Isaac and Dawn’s snowy engagement in the mountainsengagements

Snow fell heavily in Big Cottonwood Canyon with Dawn and Isaac the other day. Once we made our way through the canyon and arrived to the spot we first took a few moments to admire the weather. Snowflakes grew thicker and heavy, blanketing the mountains surrounding us in moments. They happy embraced the conditions, living in the moment with each other and helping me create some gorgeous portraits of their loving selves. They allowed me to get to know them as a couple along with treated me like a dear friend. I’m so proud of the photographs we created together that evening and can’t wait for you to scroll down and view.

Before you check them out I want to share a few quick words from the email they first sent my way.

We love how candid and honest your photos are, it was like a glimpse into an intimate moment. In short, we’ve somehow managed to find our dream photographer before, well, anything else. But perhaps it makes sense to feel connected to you, another human being, before places or things.

That last line warmed my heart. After spending these few hours with them I’m fairly certain there isn’t a superficial bone in their body. I’m constantly grateful toward those of you who choose to work with me. Your kindness and generosity goes such a long way and makes me grateful to do what I do. Alright that’s enough rambling. Scroll on down and check out this snowy goodness.

Sidney and Matt’s Fall Wedding at Millcreek Inn, Utahwedding

The morning of Sidney and Matt’s wedding began in Big Cottonwood Canyon where they had a private first look together in the trees and then we took a bit of time taking portraits. They had hoped for some weather and it delivered when halfway through their first look the snow started to fall pretty heavily. I’m so glad they set aside time that morning to be together before the celebration began.

After their first look we made our way to the neighboring canyon for their wedding and celebration at Millcreek Inn. They had live music as Sidney’s dad walked her down the aisle. Her sister fixed her train and his brother brought up their rings. What stood out to me the most about these two was how important it was that they center their celebration around family. That seems to be a common theme throughout the weddings we’ve photographed this year and it’s something that always makes me so happy to see. After their wedding they cut the cake and danced, but for the rest of the night they relaxed and mingled with loved ones in a way we haven’t seen in awhile and it made for a really great evening.

We really can’t thank Matt, Sidney and their loved ones for welcoming us into their lives and letting us be so personal with them throughout the day. The amount of trust they had for our image style and everything we needed to do really made us feel like we could create the best imagery, and their wedding quickly became a favorite. Thank you so much you two!
